MOZAMBIQUE

Location Details

Mozambique has been influenced most heavily by the traditions of Islam, Swahili and Bantu speakers. Portuguese is the most widely spoken language and many indigenous languages are also spoken. According to World Bank, 28% of their people are living on less than $1 a day. While they may lack in financial resources, they are beautifully rich in spirit. Teams will join our partner organization as they work to offer hope, discipleship, and spiritual formation to the youth and families in this area.

What to Expect

Teams can be organized specifically for your church or for individual families. Either way, training will take 12 weeks. We will have orientation, 1 team building day, and 10 hours of team training prior to departure. Once in-country, each day will begin with devotional and end with a team debrief. You will sleep safely, eat standard meals, and meet amazing people as you witness God's handiwork already being done. The goal of this trip is to remain flexible to what God would like to do in you and through you as a team.

Training & Preparation

A great deal goes into preparing for a short-term mission trip and we are here to help. Through team building exercises, we'll make sure the team knows each other well before leaving home. We will also conduct an in-depth training that includes sessions on cross-culture, evangelism, spiritual warfare, and how to serve others with dignity. You'll have a checklist of items to take care of on your own (like passports, immunizations, and raising support). We will help you stay on track with it all.

Service Projects

Various service projects include reaching the unreached with the Gospel, facilitating leadership training for local church leaders, or helping with a youth soccer camp and Bible school. Some teams will also have the chance to build churches within the surrounding villages. All our projects are in an effort to partner with the local church and rely on the support of the surrounding community. Based on the needs of our partners and the needs of your team, we can customize your itinerary to create the best experience for all. This trip includes a 1-day debrief in the connecting city of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Finances

The approximate cost of this trip is $3900pp and can vary slightly depending on flight costs. This  cost includes training materials, training space, team building, funds tracking, meals, flights, in-country transportation, lodging, ministry opportunities, and a local ministry donation. We require a $200 deposit at the time of application and it will go towards your trip. Set teams will be led by a certified Faith Journeys leader and for cutomized trips we can equip the team leader that you choose, or if you prefer, we can lead the team for you for a nominal fee divided amongst your team.
